FAQ

How is the periodic table color-coded?

By element category - alkali metals, noble gases, transition metals, lanthanides, and so on. The legend above the table shows exactly what each color means.

Why do searching "Fe" and "Iron" both match the same tile?

The search checks both the element's symbol and its full name, so either one finds it.

Where does the data come from?

Standard, widely published atomic data - symbols, atomic numbers, and standard atomic weights. A handful of the heaviest, most recently synthesized elements have no naturally occurring atomic weight, so the mass number of their most stable known isotope is shown instead.
